I will release my predictions later this week. But here is my question today, as we look back on the season...

Who will be Miss Softball?

There are a host of players that could contend for the award. Who do you think should win the title of Miss Softball 2006, and more importantly, why? I'm eager to see what you all think.

  • I think Brittany York should win the award. She is the most complete player in the running. She is not as dominant in the circle as Whitmer, but she's not chopped liver either. She beat Whitmer head to head. She is the best hitter in the state, IMO. Which the other pitchers in the running are probably not in the top 10 as far as hitting goes. She also has the best player on the best team thing going for. You can argue who is the best team, but Greenwood would be up there and she is the best player and the leader of that team. So overall I think she is the most deserving of the award. Not to mention the fact that she is a great kid, who loves the game and plays it right.

  • I agree with York.. If she's good enough for UofL, she' my pick too. A truly complete player. UL don't take no junk!

  • Owensboro Catholic has a senior on their team, Tiffany Mattingly, who has had an excellent season and is an all around softball player who can be a threat offensively and defensively.

  • I agree with you anonymous, Catholic's Mattingly should surely be a canidate for Miss Softball, even if a pitcher recieves the award, she is deserving of being nominated. If anyone has seen this girl play, then you would understand. She's like a vaccum in the field. Her defense is what really stands out to me.

  • If I could vote I would vote for York. She is the whole package! She loves the game and a great kid on and off the field. She would make Kentucky Proud.

  • My vote would have to go to Whitmer.

  • UL dont take no junk? They got the biggest piece of junk in the state (Rick Pitino). If you mean their softball team don't take no junk then thats a better statement.

That is a completely IGNORANT statement.

  • bigdaddydog..I thought we were talking SOFTBALL. What does Pitino have to do with the subject?

  • You have to look at Young at North Hardin. Her preformance at the Ballard tourny should have locked up Miss Softball. She dominated a field tougher than the state will be.North Hardin is contender with her and does not get out of the 17 district w/o her. She has signed w/ UK & can play any position & hit.
I am not connected to North in any way & have seen all the top players this year .There is several good ones but Young is the cream of the crop

  • According to defense, no doubt, that Tiffany Mattingly kid from Owensboro Catholic.
